  • Includes microbiological contamination testing, sealant quality checks and verification, visual tank and fuel system inspections and positive pressure testing

STS Aviation Group is Flying to Orlando for MRO Americas 2021

It wasn’t that long ago when conferences were commonplace throughout the global MRO industry. And with 2020 being one of the most trying years in recent memory, a year where everything changed, the STS Aviation Group team is finally ready to get back on the road once again to meet, in person, all of our business partners, colleagues and industry friends.

This April 27 -29, STS Aviation Group will be putting its nose-to-tail aircraft maintenance solutions on display at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida for MRO Americas 2021. Our team will be stationed at booth #825, so if you and your company plan on attending the conference, fly on over to our space and say hello!

One of the key topics of discussion will no doubt be our company’s recent global expansion. A little over one year ago, we added base maintenance services in Europe with facilities at Newquay (NQY) and Birmingham (BHX) in the United Kingdom. In addition, STS Aviation Group added to its already robust aircraft interior service offerings after it acquired Airbase Canada based out of Montreal.

But that’s not all… our global line maintenance segment has also grown. We now operate 29 active line maintenance stations in the United States and the Bahamas as well as 7 stations in the United Kingdom and France. Add three more station in Canada, and that brings our total active station count 40!

For all of us at STS Aviation Group, providing value to our customers rests at the core of everything we do. That is why our company has adopted a cross-segment business model that genuinely offers the global aerospace industry with “Total Solutions to Keep You Flying!”

Once again, we are so excited to be heading back to MRO Americas in person this year, and we cannot wait to see you all there!

STS Mod Center Receives FAA Diamond Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

FAA Diamond Award

Melbourne, Fla., March 19, 2021 – STS Mod Center, a global leader in aircraft maintenance and modification services, receives the FAA Diamond Award from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for its continued commitment to aircraft maintenance training and safety. This is the fourth year in a row STS Mod Center has received the award.

“The promotion of safety through regular and ongoing training is central to our company’s success,” says Mark Smith, Group President of STS Mod Center. “To receive this award means 100% participation from our entire staff, and that’s hundreds of people rallying around the company’s core cultural values and training methods year in and year out.”

In order to be considered for the award, STS Mod Center enrolled itself into the FAA FAAST program; a program designed to promote safer skies through the ongoing training and education of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians. To receive the award, every touch labor specialist employed by STS Mod Center had to successfully complete the year-long program with ratings levels that exceeded the Federal Aviation Administration’s justifiably high standards.

“We fix, troubleshoot and modify aircraft for a living,” says David MacKinnon, Director of Quality and Compliance for STS Mod Center “That’s a responsibility and a privilege we take seriously. This award reflects that, and I’m proud of our team for rallying together and working hard to bring this award home for the fourth consecutive year. This accomplishment means a lot to us as an organization, but knowing that safety rests at the heart of everything we do means a great deal more to our customers and the people who depend on us to fly safely.”

MELBOURNE, Fla., October 12, 2020 — STS Mod Center (STS), a division of STS Aviation Group and a leading MRO provider to the global aviation industry, kicks off a major aircraft connectivity project in Melbourne, Florida that will call upon the team to install Thales Wi-Fi systems on more than 100 commercial aircraft over the next 12 months.

It takes the STS Mod Center team about three days to complete the nose-to-tail installation of a Thales Wi-Fi system on narrowbody aircraft and about four-to-six days when working on widebody aircraft.

STS Aviation Services Creates 60 Jobs in Birmingham to Support Aircraft Conversion Work

Boeing Names STS Aviation Services in Birmingham as Key Wedgetail Supplier

BIRMINGHAM, September 30, 2020 — STS Aviation Services, a division of STS Aviation Group and a leading aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider to the global aviation industry, has hired 60 aircraft maintenance professionals in Birmingham to support conversion work on the United Kingdom’s fleet of Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning (AEW) MK1 aircraft.

“We are committed to hiring locally for this project, and so far the response has been incredible,” said Imogen Day, Director of Human Resources for STS Aviation Services in the United Kingdom. “Over the next few months we will hire approximately 50 more people to support the required conversion work, and we are also in the early stages of creating internship opportunities and apprenticeship programmes as our team looks to partner with educational institutions in and around the West Midlands.”

More than half of the 30 Boeing employees who will be based in Birmingham are already on site alongside their STS colleagues as preparation work ramps up this year. These Birmingham-based employees will join the 50 Boeing employees already working on the Wedgetail programme throughout the UK.

The Wedgetail conversion programme was recently awarded to STS Aviation Services by Boeing and it will call upon both STS and Boeing teams to transform multiple 737 Next Generation aircraft into a modern airborne battle management fleet. The new Wedgetails will protect the UK through tracking airborne and maritime threats and directing fighter jets and warships. Work for this project will be carried out at STS Aviation Services’ expanding, state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance facility located at Birmingham Airport (BHX).

“Our team’s commitment to source local candidates, particularly during a pandemic and at such a difficult time, gives me a great sense of pride” said Mick Adams, Senior Vice President and CEO of STS Aviation Services. “Not only does this conversion programme balance our company’s portfolio perfectly, it will soon give many people in the West Midlands expanded opportunities for apprenticeships, internships and full-time jobs at our Birmingham Airport facility.”

STS Aviation Services is promoting careers associated with the Wedgetail conversion programme on its online jobs board. Those interested in being considered for a position are encouraged to learn more and apply online directly. Candidates are also welcome to send CVs to recruitment@stsaviationservices.com.
