Building the next generation of aviation professionals starts with opportunity, and at STS Aviation Services, that opportunity just became official.
Our team is proud to announce that its U.S. Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Apprenticeship Program has been formally registered and approved by the State of Florida under program number 2026 FL 137478.
This marks an important step forward in our long-term commitment to workforce development and continued growth at our Melbourne, Florida facility. Through this new program, STS will train and mentor aspiring A&P mechanics through a minimum of two and a half years of classroom instruction and hands-on experience. Apprentices will learn from seasoned technicians while gaining the technical and professional foundation needed for a successful career in aircraft maintenance.
“This program allows us to grow our team organically,” said John Wing, Senior Vice President, General Manager, and Accountable Manager for STS Aviation Services U.S. “It represents the culmination of a lot of hard work from our HR, Training, and Quality teams, and it positions us to help shape the future of our industry right here in Florida.”
Approved by the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Career and Adult Education, this apprenticeship program aligns with the state’s mission to make Florida number one in the nation for workforce education by 2030. The program provides a structured pathway for apprentices to develop their skills, earn a wage, and build a meaningful aviation career while supporting the broader goals of the STS organization.
This milestone is about more than training mechanics. It is about building careers, strengthening our community, and investing in the people who will define the future of aviation.
The certification follows an extensive evaluation of STS Line Maintenance’s organizational structure, quality assurance systems, and maintenance procedures. With this approval, STS Line Maintenance is now authorized to perform maintenance on aircraft registered in Colombia or operated commercially by Colombian carriers, strengthening its position as a trusted international MRO provider.
“This certification represents more than compliance… it reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire team,” said Gary Pratt, Senior Vice President & General Manager of STS Line Maintenance. “Every approval we earn builds on our reputation for quality and reinforces the trust our customers place in us to keep their fleets operating safely and efficiently.”
With existing certifications from the FAA, EASA, TCCA, and CAACI, this UAEAC approval further expands STS Line Maintenance’s global reach and capability. It also highlights the company’s growing influence within international aviation maintenance and its ability to meet the highest standards across multiple regulatory frameworks.
Congratulations to the entire STS Line Maintenance team for another outstanding achievement and for continuing to set the bar for excellence in aircraft maintenance.

Dubai, UAE – February 11, 2025 – STS Aviation Services, in partnership with Diehl Aviation, is pleased to announce the expansion of its operations in Dubai with the official opening of a new state-of-the-art facility in the Dubai Airport Freezone. This 1,100-square-meter site is strategically located in the heart of the airport’s logistics hub, further strengthening both companies’ regional presence and operational capabilities.
The newly expanded facility will serve as a shared space for both STS Aviation Services and Diehl Aviation. Diehl will oversee the final assembly and certification of cabin components under EASA Part 21G, while STS Aviation Services’ skilled staff will perform the final assembly and kitting of the parts, with Diehl Aviation providing oversight and certification. This collaboration supports an even more dynamic approach to aircraft maintenance and cabin component services in the region.
This strategic collaboration enhances both companies’ ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality products, bringing specialized expertise to local customers. The shared facility features dedicated spaces, including production lines, rework workstations, spare parts warehousing, and office space, ensuring seamless operations between the two teams.
The initial focus of this expansion will be on completing components for the A380 aircraft family, specifically lavatories and sidewall panels. However, the site is equipped to extend its capabilities to other aircraft families based on customer demand. With this expansion, Diehl Aviation and STS Aviation Services are positioning themselves to deliver faster, more efficient services while continuing to exceed customer expectations.
As part of their ongoing commitment to excellence, both companies are also exploring the possibility of expanding their capabilities. In the quaint town of Melbourne, Florida, where the Atlantic breeze whispers tales of yonder, the aircraft base maintenance facility of STS Aviation Services stood as a beacon of human ingenuity. This Christmas Eve, however, the ordinary bustle of the hangar was about to transform into an extraordinary tale of wonder.
The team, a trio of distinct personalities united by their love for aircraft, took center stage. Jack, STS Aviation Services’ Chief Aircraft Mechanic, was a man of unwavering resolve whose eyes had seen the evolution of aviation from mere machines to wonders of technology. His leadership was the glue that held the Melbourne crew together.
Mia, the avionics wizard, was the soul of the group. Her journey from a curious child fascinated by planes to a master of aviation electronics was nothing short of inspiring. Her hands moved with an artist’s grace, turning complex circuits into harmonious symphonies.
Then there was Carlos, the spirited mechanic whose laughter echoed through the hangar. His youthful energy was a source of joy, and his innovative mind often found solutions where none seemed to exist. He viewed every aircraft as a canvas, ready to be revived with his skilled touch.
On this fateful Christmas eve night, as the team prepared to conclude their shift, an unexpected sound broke the silence – the magical chime of sleigh bells, rapidly descending from the night sky. To their astonishment, it was Santa Claus himself, his sleigh limping onto the runway, guided by his team of worried reindeer.
Santa, in all his legendary glory, was in distress. A critical malfunction in his sleigh’s propulsion system threatened to halt the joyous journey of gift-giving. The magic of Christmas was at stake, and the STS Aviation Services team knew what they had to do.
With a nod from Jack, the trio sprang into action. They approached the sleigh with reverence, marveling at its mystical aura. Mia, with her keen eye, quickly identified the issue with the magical navigation system. Her fingers worked deftly, realigning crystals and rewiring enchanted circuits.
Carlos, meanwhile, teamed up with Jack to address the mechanical woes. They worked in tandem, Carlos’ innovative methods complemented by Jack’s experienced hand. Every bolt tightened and gear checked was a step closer to saving Christmas.
As they worked, the hangar was filled with a rare energy, a mix of intense focus and childlike wonder. They were mechanics, yes, but tonight, they were guardians of a tradition, custodians of joy.
As dawn kissed the horizon, painting the sky with hues of hope, the sleigh was restored, its magic rekindled. Santa, with a twinkle in his eye, expressed his profound gratitude. He knew that the spirit of Christmas was alive and well in the hearts of these remarkable mechanics.
As the sleigh took off, disappearing into the morning light, the team stood in silent awe. They had not just repaired Santa’s sleigh, they had woven themselves into the fabric of a timeless legend.
In the hangar, as they finally prepared to head home, a profound realization dawned on them. They had experienced the true essence of Christmas – a selfless act of kindness, a coming together for a cause greater than themselves. The joy they had ensured for countless children around the world filled their hearts with an indescribable warmth.
“The Melbourne Miracle” was more than just a tale of fixing a sleigh. It was a testament to the power of teamwork, the magic of believing and the boundless spirit of giving that defines the true meaning of Christmas.
