JENSEN BEACH, Fla., March 27, 2024 — STS Aviation Group is proud to announce the expansion of STS Aviation Services UK, with the opening of two new line maintenance stations at East Midlands (EMA) and Norwich (NWI) airports in the United Kingdom, effective April 1, 2024. This strategic expansion is set to enhance service capabilities in the region, with Air Explore as the primary customer at the outset.

The opening of these new line stations at EMA and NWI marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing top-tier line maintenance services. Manchester, United Kingdom – January 2, 2023 – STS Aviation Group, a leader in the aviation services industry, today announced the strategic relocation of its 145 component/seat repair operations from Shannon, Ireland, to its expanded facility in Manchester, United Kingdom. This move is part of the company’s ongoing effort to enhance turnkey services for its growing global customer base.

“The relocation to Manchester represents a strategic expansion of our service capabilities in a key location,” said Ian Bartholomew, EVP & Managing Director of European Operations at STS Aviation Services. “This move enables us to consolidate our operations, providing more efficient and comprehensive services to our clients.”

The transition of the 145 component/seat repair capabilities is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2024, positioning STS Aviation Group to better serve the evolving needs of the aviation industry. The company’s commitment to offering top-tier services remains a top priority, and this expansion is a testament to that dedication.

While the component/seat repair operations are moving to Manchester, the Shannon facility will continue to operate as an EASA/FAA 145 certified fuel repair shop. Additionally, it will offer passenger seat storage services at the company’s New Market Fergus warehouse, ensuring continued support for clients reliant on these services.

In the quaint town of Melbourne, Florida, where the Atlantic breeze whispers tales of yonder, the aircraft base maintenance facility of STS Aviation Services stood as a beacon of human ingenuity. This Christmas Eve, however, the ordinary bustle of the hangar was about to transform into an extraordinary tale of wonder.

The team, a trio of distinct personalities united by their love for aircraft, took center stage. Jack, STS Aviation Services’ Chief Aircraft Mechanic, was a man of unwavering resolve whose eyes had seen the evolution of aviation from mere machines to wonders of technology. His leadership was the glue that held the Melbourne crew together.

Mia, the avionics wizard, was the soul of the group. Her journey from a curious child fascinated by planes to a master of aviation electronics was nothing short of inspiring. Her hands moved with an artist’s grace, turning complex circuits into harmonious symphonies.

Then there was Carlos, the spirited mechanic whose laughter echoed through the hangar. His youthful energy was a source of joy, and his innovative mind often found solutions where none seemed to exist. He viewed every aircraft as a canvas, ready to be revived with his skilled touch.

On this fateful Christmas eve night, as the team prepared to conclude their shift, an unexpected sound broke the silence – the magical chime of sleigh bells, rapidly descending from the night sky. To their astonishment, it was Santa Claus himself, his sleigh limping onto the runway, guided by his team of worried reindeer.

Santa, in all his legendary glory, was in distress. A critical malfunction in his sleigh’s propulsion system threatened to halt the joyous journey of gift-giving. The magic of Christmas was at stake, and the STS Aviation Services team knew what they had to do.

As the sleigh took off, disappearing into the morning light, the team stood in silent awe. They had not just repaired Santa’s sleigh, they had woven themselves into the fabric of a timeless legend.

In the hangar, as they finally prepared to head home, a profound realization dawned on them. They had experienced the true essence of Christmas – a selfless act of kindness, a coming together for a cause greater than themselves. The joy they had ensured for countless children around the world filled their hearts with an indescribable warmth.

SHANNON, Ireland, November 8, 2023 — After an illustrious 43-year career in the aviation industry, Mark Robertson, Senior VP of Business Development for STS Aviation Services in Ireland (STS), has announced his retirement, marking the end of an era. The decision to retire comes as Mark seeks to prioritize his health, family, and future endeavors.

Throughout his career, Mark has left an indelible mark on the aviation sector, with notable contributions at every stage. From his early days at Magee Plastics in San Francisco to helping STS get off the ground in Ireland back in 2019, Mark has exemplified dedication, innovation, and leadership.

“It is a very emotional decision, but one that is best for my health, family, and future,” Mark explained. “I couldn’t ask for a better way to finish a career that has been incredibly rewarding.”

A key stakeholder in STS’ operations in Ireland, Mark takes pride in providing guidance and opportunities for employee success and believes in the unique family-like culture at STS.

“STS is like a big family, and I will miss the everyday interface that I’ve been having across all of our global divisions,” noted Mark. “All great people… top to bottom.”

Mark also reflected on his retirement plans, which include focusing on his family’s pear orchard in Hood River, Oregon, enjoying time with his wife and children, and exploring interests like golfing, biking, and travel.

Born in Scotland and having emigrated to the United States at a young age, Mark has embodied the spirit of taking leaps of faith. From starting a business in a foreign country to now retiring, his journey has been one of determination and achievement.

At STS Aviation Services in Montreal, we take pride in our long-standing partnership with Air Canada. Together, we are committed to fostering the next generation of aviation professionals. One significant initiative in this endeavor is celebrating “Young Women in Aviation Day,” an amazing annual event sponsored by Air Canada; an event we are always proud to participate in. This special day was celebrated on November 2nd, and it serves as an annual reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the aviation industry.

Young Women in Aviation Day is more than just an event; it’s a movement. It was initiated as a way to inspire young women to pursue careers in the skilled trades and technologies industry. We believe that every young person, regardless of gender, should have the opportunity to explore the exciting and fulfilling careers available in the world of aviation.

At the same time as the hackathon was taking place at Air Canada’s Montreal headquarters, the airline was also hosting its Young Women in Aviation event, an annual event which returned this year after pausing during the pandemic. This event enabled students over the age of 15 who are deciding what they will study in the future to learn more about multidisciplinary careers in aviation.

Air Canada welcomed students throughout the day, and they were able to hear directly from Air Canada’s leaders. They were also treated to an aircraft tour and visit to the Air Canada museum. In addition, attendees visited booths set up by different teams at Air Canada and their partners. The goal was to provide the students in attendance with insights into what makes a career in aviation so exciting and showcase career paths where women are currently underrepresented.

“This event holds great significance as we aim to inspire young women to embark on educational and career paths in the skilled trades and technologies industry. Facilitating connections between students and seasoned professionals from different sectors of this industry, enabling them to share their experiences and offer guidance, is essential in nurturing the next generation,” expressed Lena Waters, Sr. Vice President of STS Aviation Services in Canada.

JENSEN BEACH, Fla., October 17, 2023 — STS Aviation Group (STS) announces the following organization changes to STS Aviation Services. These changes are effective January 1, 2024.

STS Aviation Services – North America will incorporate all base, line and component maintenance facilities throughout North America. Shane King will become EVP & Managing Director, STS Aviation Services NA.
STS Aviation Services – Europe will incorporate all base, line, component, and engine maintenance facilities in Europe. Mick Adams will retire as previously planned and take on a board advisory role. Adams will be replaced by Ian Bartholomew who will become EVP & Managing Director, STS Aviation Services EU.
STS Aviation Services – Mobile Solutions will incorporate the worldwide activities of STS that are performed away from base facilities. Currently, STS has extensive activity in North America, Europe and the Middle East. Daniel Burgess will become EVP & Managing Director, STS Aviation Services MS.
STS Aviation Services – Engineering Solutions will incorporate the worldwide engineering activities of STS. Ethan Steele will continue in his role of Sr. VP & General Manager, Engineering Solutions, heading up this sector.
